Winning a position in Jazz All-State is no small feat! Jaden Dupree auditioned against a number of other extremely talented guitarists through multiple rounds to win his position playing with one of the two featured ensembles for the weekend. There is only one guitarist position for each of the bands, so Jaden is one of the top two musicians that auditioned.
The concert kicked off with joyful Jazz classics inspired by Michael Collins-Dowden's "Big Noise From the North Pole," Alan Baylock's arrangement of "Go Tell It On The Mountain," and Roger Holmes arrangement of "Christmas Time is Here" composed by Vince Guaraldi, among other popular selections.
The concert began with the Jazz Ensembles who performed music by jazz legends Chuck Mangione, Dizzy Gillespie, Leonard Bernstein, and music like "Freedom Jazz Dance," and "The Girl from Ipanema." With ground-breaking solos and exceptional ensemble work, the Coyote jazz musicians delivered an incredible performance.
