ABOUT THE JAZZ ENSEMBLES
The Campo Verde High School Jazz Bands (Green & Copper) provide talented musicians the opportunity to study and perform music of the “Big Bands” from the 1920’s to the present. The bands consist of saxophones, trumpets, trombones, and rhythm sections with an emphasis to perform the different styles of music (swing, rock, blues, popular) with understanding. Students also learn to improvise their own solos with good technique and understanding.
All qualified CVHS musicians are welcome to audition for placement into one of the jazz bands during audition season in late April.
NEWS & UPDATES
Campo Verde High School truly has an amazing music scene at the football games. During the first couple of games, at home and away, the Coyote Pride Marching Band performed the national anthem and its fun show featuring music of Ariana Grande, “Focus” and “Problem.”
Over one-hundred Campo Verde musicians, directors, and staff members gathered during the summer in preparation for the upcoming marching band season. The rigorous summer schedule helped the band members get in shape while learning formations and music for upcoming performances.
Last month the marching band leadership team dug into the book Culture Code by Daniel Coyle (2018). This incredible book marked the kick-off to the new season and took a deep dive into the secrets of extremely successful groups ranging from comedy troops to the military. Highly successful groups of people do several things in common while building trust, creating solid relationships that withstand the test of time, and drive positive change.
